Extreme blow-by... S4 TII

I have searched, and came across a few answers that may lead to the resolution of this issue. however they are dated a few years back, and i am curious to see if there are any current ways to go around this, and fix it easier.

with that said, i have a 2nd gen FC, with a good running, rebuilt S4 Turbo Motor, and rebuilt stock turbo (for now)

I've been experiencing a massive amount of blow-by. at first i had "assumed" it was a cracked iron, or maybe a pinhole in an oil line since i relocated it closer to the subframe for my V-Mount setup. so the other day i got mad, cleaned my entire engine bay spotless, and went to the track, and the first 2 small sessions the car was alright, not spitting oil. so i went back out after having a 30min cool down/checking fluids again, and got more comfortable hot lapping the track. this time i noticed oil spraying out of my hood vent, onto my window. i stopped, opened the hood, and the oil dipstick was popped up a bit (normal for my car) but this time i noticed the throttle cable had a 2" section where it was soaked from the breather nipple spraying oil out under boost.

so i've found the issue.

before i had capped both nipples on the oil neck off completely on my last motor only to find that it would make the car smoke immensely. so i removed the top, and left the bottom capped off.

now it is the same way, but now i'm having issues with crazy pressure, where i didnt have any issues before.

the motor is practically as new as can be. new oil control rings, new turbo rebuild (but still horrible stock turbo)

i dont have a catch can, but i can make one but what im wondering is, what is the BEST way to route the catch can. what do i do with both nipples on the oil filler neck? what size -an hose should i use?
should i run a vacuum hose from the top oil filler tube to an open intake vacuum port? if so which one sees the most vacuum, or does it not matter?

im running the stock turbo without a front intake pipe, just a tbolt clamped mesh screen over the opening so routing it to the intake would mean i'd have to add a front pipe/filter which i dont want as i plan on only using this turbo for another week or so before finally throwing my 35r on.

what would you guys recommend? I always get awesome advice, and i can't stand to have to clean up this oil mess once more.... thanks guys.

I would run a catch can from the two nipples on the oil filler neck. Put your cap back on. My old DSM would blow the dip stick out of the tube and spray oil. Myself and some of the my other DSM buddies would make a catch for the dip stick to lock it in place. I believe I used the metal tab from a decent ball point pen, bent it a little to make a bit of a hook and hose clamped it to the oil fill tube.

I do find that I have to drain the oil catch relatively frequently. If I don't I get a nice big oil explosion through the breather on the catch can LOL.

What is the second oil fill neck nipple you are referring to? On an s4?? Am I forgetting something?

There is one on the middle iron and one on the oil filler. Don't cap either of them. Run hoses from each to an open-vented catch can. If you are still getting crazy blow by then you have loose clearances. There are other ways of running the plumbing (PCV valve for example) but what I just described has worked well for me and for many others. I can tell you right now that I have run over 20 pounds of boost with this configuration and not had any major blowby issues. A T2 engine running a stock turbo should not have crankcase ventilation problems.

no, you're right. the 2nd is on the lower portion of the oil fill tube, but after the top bolt on piece, on the middle iron. when i posted this i forgot the top unbolts from the bottom.

the catch can i picked up has a few small holes drilled in the top to vent. should that be enough? or would a filter/breather setup be a little better?

as far as the oil filling the can goes: if it fills up, obviously i have to drain it, but when should i worry about looking into the motor for issues if this doesnt solve the issues and it fills up within a few runs? or is that what everyone pretty much deals with for the most part? i know what you're saying about the stock turbo setup. i would think so as well, but the only other thing i could come across was maybe the turbo seal was going out already since we all know stock turbos can't go through too much abuse and it was just pressurizing the system.

thanks for the replies. im going to go mess with it right now.

I would have to see a pic of the catch can in question to have an opinion on it.
