Exhaust.

Basically I would like to know what you all think about needs for a custom exhaust system.
Im going to build a header. thats all i know for sure at this point.

so the motor is a stock 13b with rb holley intake (holley 600)

so what specs are recomended for building a header. pipe size's and collection pipe?

I know rotaries are loud, this application is for a VW bug so my exhaust system is going to be as short as possible but i will make room for whatever mufflers and presilencers/glasspacks you all recomended. I would like to get the best performance for the noise level heh. I don't care if it's loud when i get on it but just cruising i would hope for a reasonable trade off.

thanks guys! also i dont need to worry about passing any emissions the car is registered at a 61 ( presmog)

so straight out of the header its two 2 and 1/8th pipe? what does it collect into?

what do about mufflers. anyone have a setup that doesnt have to many extra mufflers and no cat, that sounds streetable?

I was asking around some local ricer shops that deal with rx-7s and so far ive heard simply a resinator and a nice chambered muffler. that seems like it wouldnt be enough to me. I also heard that presilencers dont do much at all and to stick with resonaters.
so resonater glass pack and a 3 chambered muffler? anyone? heh thanks

yes the header is two 2 1/8 pipes that will collect into what ever you want it to! mine collect into a 3 inch..

damn the price went up sense the last time i bought 1 its $109.00 this is what it looks like

i would try the rasonater and a GOOD all welded 3 chamber muffler...the muffler better hold up to heat very good or you will be pissing in the wind...with the super short exhaust you are going to be pissing in the wind if the muffler wont handel heat well....i would run 2 1/4 piping the rest of the way from the header.. good luck gettin that thing quite

Naw, just use it as a presilencer. Downpipe > straight pipe > then catback or somethng single not Y pipe.
