essentric shaft bolt 93 rx7

Im trying to remove my essentric shaft bolt so that I can replace the front cover gasket. I have a impact gun that goes up to 800ft/lbs, and can peak at 1,000 ft/lbs, and it can't break the bolt loose. How much does it help to heat up the bolt, because if that is the problem I will go get my acetylene bottle refilled for my torch.

Out of all the motors, 13B-REW ones have been the most pain in the ***.
The 20B ones are a close second.
The bolt has tons of threadlocker on it, and heat will help.
If that big 1klb-ft gun can't get it off, burn the bolt first.

Does the gun actually produce that much torque or is it just rated for that? Forgive me if you've already accounted for this, but does your air setup flow enough CFM to actually make 1000 ft lbs?

I don't have an air gun that can get them off and I just put a 1/2 inch breaker bar on there with a LONG pipe on the end. (like 3-6 feet). Then have someone sit on the engine if it is out of the car to hold it down and just hang on the wrench. 6 feet x 200 pound person = 1200 ft lbs

P.S. make sure you know where to get another half inch breaker bar if you snap yours

I refilled my tanks and heated the bolt were i could of started to weld to it, and it broke lose easy.
I have a 135 psi. air compressor, which runs at 4.8cfm/@90psi. Its ok for small work, but when it comes down to using it for body work, it suck.
The air gun that I have can be purchased at Norther Tool. http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/w...74&R=200051674
Good luck to you all that have to remove the essentric shaft bolt.

Yep, I had to heat mine as well. I just used a small propane torch for around 10 minutes. I still had to use a 5lb. hammer to wack the 2ft. breaker bar. I had no one to hold the engine and had aready bent a 3ft. long 1/4 thick piece of flat stock bolted to the fly wheel, what a pain in the @!**+! The Nut on the back was just as bad too.
