Question Erratic tach

Any body out there has/had tack problems. My tack bounces around and sometimes shows idle at 2000. Anyone have a fix?

does it do this all the time? does it do this only when its cold (not sure what part of Cali you're in)?

the simplest thing i can think of would be to check the distributor rotor if it's cracked/broken ... it happened to me once and i couldn't figure out how.

It's does it after the car warms up. It's very inconsistant. I live in Fresno, we don't have extreme heat or cold, temp. range from 40 to 110 degrees and here's my email address - hngo1@hotmail.com

i would say check the trailing ignition, but you didn't mention any problems with idle or power loss ... so i'm not very sure that road will lead anywhere. i guess i also made the dumb assumption that you have a Gen I car. what year is the car?

My old '93 did the same thing. Once in awhile the tach would go crazy..

I have a 93, no lost of power. Car runs fine with the exception of crazy tach.

My 84' RX7 stays at a high RPM (1500) in the morning, Im guessing just because its cold because after like 5 mins, It goes down to about 1000 RPM. I thought something was wrong with my car it just takes time to get warm it will settle down...
