engine vibration issue

1984 fb with a 13b repu engine and unknown 5 speed. all components are rb. front engine mount with hockey pucks, unknown trans mount, rb intake with 48 dell side draft, rb exhaust. So at at around 2k pulling in 3rd or 4th it vibrates hard enough to make my inovate a/r ratio gauge rattle on the steering collum. it makes the car drone. Can this be caused by the hockey pucks? Never had a 7 with so many mods already done before purchase. Had many v8 cars with solid mounts, sounds the same. and no it is not drive shaft related as like bad U joints, i know that feeling.

so my main concern is did I buy a car with a mismatched flywheel drive train combo or am I just feeling the race car feel I should? Anybody in the south end around auburn want to go for a ride and see what I mean pm me...we can go for a ride.

A mis-matched flywheel/counterweight was my first thought. I fell victim to that myself once, and you could feel that something was very wrong even at idle. Is there any vibration when just free-revving in the driveway? Or, does this only happen when driving?

If it only happens when driving, start checking motor/tranny mounts, U-joints, wheel balancing, etc.

If it happens when free-revving, better pull the motor and find out what you've got.

Good luck...

smooth as silk free reving smooth above or below 2k. just has this vibration at around 2k when driving. Drive train, wheels and tires good, u joints good. I am thinking it is related to the rb front mount and the hockey puck front engine mounts used to convert it from 12a to 13b. will recheck trans mount but looked good on visual inspection. just had me concerned, never had any of my rotarys feel this way. This thing is a rocket ship with this set, could not be happier, but as a dd i need to make it last.
