I'm trying to diagnose a peculiar issue on my new FD3.

I picked it up today (it's sweet) and drove it home with no issues, then when i went out tonight things started behaving a bit odd.

I have noticed that there are electrical issues, sometimes the passenger light doesn't flip up, speedo is intermittent, oil guage is intermittent, passenger electric window switch intermittent...

i am wondering if these could be all tied together and are causing the engine stall that i got tonight about 3 times.

i was quite happily crusing along in 5th gear about 60 and then all of a sudden, the car dies and it 'feels' like the fuel pump stops, or some other sort of electrical issue happens.

additionally, which dashboard lights come on at start, as i see no engine management light which comes on, although it is an aftermarket ECU - could this be why?

Engine was rebuilt 4000 miles ago.

 

Today my FD did exactly the same.. like with a frequency of 1Hz the iginiton power went of and on. really annoying on a highway.. when I pressed the clutch engine just died and evenw ith igniton on, all lamps on dash staid out. released the clutch and drove on with this 1Hz ign on of cycles till i reached a parking lot. pressed the clutch and suprisingly the engine idled again and ignition power staid one. drove furhter and issue didnt happens again..

did you find out the cause at yor car?

 

With mine I found that the leading spark plug lead had a crack in the rubber booting and moisture had gotten into the contact - turned it blue. Replaced the leads and coils for good measure and never had a problem after that.

With yours you might want to try replacing your clutch switch if the issue is happening during clutch pedal pressing
