downpipe question

what type of downpipe to purchase? is stainless really necessary? Also, which name brand is best for a third gen? Does heat coating make a large difference?
thanks

I'm not a 3rd gen person but the question is pretty general so I will throw my 2 cents in

Is SS really necessary? Not unless you look at the underside of your car a lot! Or if you are concerned with rust I suppose. All brand names work well but I would go with the one you can get good service from. If you can contact the dealer about problems and they can help you with it, I would buy from them Also ask them if it will include the gaskets and stuff. As for the heat coating I can't really say. If you want to keep heat out of the cockpit a little more I suppose it would help and it may help it spitting out the exhaust gasses a little faster. I don't bother with that stuff just because it is expensive and I don't really notice a difference, or more the fact it doesn't bother me. I just made my DP out of aluminized steel

what would cost least money is to cut the little stock piece where it turns up to go over the axle.... turn that little piece 180 degrees, weld... downpipe.

Racing beat should sell some nice down piping - right? What I like about stainless steal is -NO RUST- and when u don't want it just resell it.

i live in denver, so I am not sure i really need the stainless steel. also, I could get heat wrap from a local auto parts store.
