how can you tell the diff in 13Bs I have one that I know is a first gen 13B its out of an 85. NOW the other is out of an 86 I am told but everyone says its not.
HOW can you tell ?

at a glance ... the intake plenums are different on the Gen II motors ... i think the '86-'88 motors say something like "Mazda 13B Injection" or something to that effect. i'm not sure what the '89-'91 engines say, but it's NOT "RE-EGI" ... so that's how you tell at a glance.

for closer inspection ... just look at the rotor housings. the surface of the rotor housing on older 13B's will be flat and smooth. the surface of the newer ones ('86 and up) will have some waves in them.

 

by the way ... why didn't you post a pic of the motor that you're trying to figure out what year it is, instead of the one you know?

and yes I have cable modem and it was at 2 in the morning. this list is so slow to boot it reminds me of a 14400 or 28800 modem hook up NOW that was slow

 

well, i can't see the part of the engine that matters, BUT ... as long as no one changed intakes on you, that's another SE engine, not a Gen II 13B.

 

Yep GSL-SE 6-port. Someone was saying that the GSL-SE's had 4 ports but they don't! I have one.
