Degreeing in 13bt?

Is there a easy way to find TDC on #1 if you don't have the timing marks on the main pulley? I would just like to find TDC so that I can make a mark on my custom pulley. The motor is a s4 13bt.

Thanks

Use an old stock pulley and just move the marks over?

Sorry, but that link will not work for a second generation.

If you want to find tdc do what reted said or if you have a first generation carb engine cars pulley, its timing mark was AT TDC and not 5degrees ATC like a second generation.

Or a pulley from RB or Mazdatrix would I ASSUME be accurate.

Yes it will give you exact TDC for any pulley whether it be a second gen, 1st gen, Racing Beat or any other main pulley out there. Yeah you can get a second gen and move it over 5mm and get close to tdc but not exact it puts you in a very close ballpark range. But have you actually measured the circumference of a stock main pulley it's not always a perfect 360mm. The method that RETed stated is fine and works but I'm a pickey bastard and want it exactly where TDC is, that's just me though, and I know that others are like me when it comes to things like that. And yes the Racing Beat main pulley has the mark for TDC and it's the same one Mazdatrix sells.

The following words from that article:*********** Now by design 2 of those 4 bolts are dead in line with the centre of the eccentric shaft keyway,*******************************

Sorry, it ain't so. The bolt pattern is staggered on a series four.

And sorry, I ain't a lookin for close or ballpark figures. I virtually stopped reading that article when I got to those words.

I settled for a dial indicator and a spare parts motor to get TDC. I do have a spare first gen pulley from a carb motor and I admit that the mark on that pulley is at TDC.

Bottom line is the reason I posted above that the article isn't good for second gen is ************* Now by design 2 of those 4 bolts are dead in line with the centre of the eccentric shaft keyway,****************
