C's FC Short Throw Help Please

Hello so I bought a C's short throw used and I am having trouble figuring out how to place the washers and seals and if I even got all the parts. I have attached the photos of what came with the shifter. I was wondering if anyone with experience of the C's could let me know if I have all the parts and if not if there is a way I can make or find something that will make it work. Also the big metal washer that goes in the transmission tunnel doesn't have a hole for the pin in the stock tunnel. Is that normal or do I have to get one cut into it? Any help would be great! Thank you so much!

And here is the ring I presume goes into the tunnel on the stock trans but there's no room for the pin. But on the instructions it doesn't show that the washer is notched.

Went and looked at my C's out in the garage..that spacer does have a big U groove cut out so that it rests over/around the pin.

I suppose you could try removing the pin...

The guy who sold me mine didn't give me that ring so I made my own and notched it to work and it works fine on my car. measure twice and cut once though

You can just notch that piece that you have in your hand.
Just be sure that the bushing that lays on top will sit flush.Otherwise when you tighten the 3 bolts down it will bind the whole shifter assembly.
All the parts look to be there, but the slot on the shifter looks kind of ragged. Is there a nylon bushing that is supposed to sit on it?
If so you can get one I think from Mazdatrix.
I actually got a shop to fill in that slot and make it all metal,so no bushing.

Okay thank you so much! My stock shifter didn't have a bushing in the groove but i will add one to the new one. Also one more question. I read that the s4 trans didn't use a bushing where the ball on the shifter sits in the transmission selector but the s5 did. I have an s4 and it was completely stock when i got it with pretty low mileage from an older guy and when I look down into the tunnel it appears to have the piece that holds the ball bushing from an s5. Did the s4 have a similar looking unit or does my rx7 have an s5 trans? Can anyone tell from the pictures? I just want to know if I can get a new bushing or not because as of now it looks like the ball will be sitting on metal but i don't know if that's how it was designed. Thanks!

I had the same issue with the C's shifter I got for my FD, bought it knowing it is missing 1 metal spacer and because of that I got it for 40 bux.

I'm not sure if the FD shifter fitment apply to you, but first you need to make sure that metal ring you have in your hand fits perfectly inside the spacer with the pin. Since mine was missing that spacer, I had a friend made one for me out of UHMWP, I got the measurement from a forum member here but you can get it by measuring the inside of the spacer with pin.

Thank you so much for the pictures. I ended up notching the metal spacer and it fit perfectly! But see how yours has that little bushing on the ball? Mine doesn't and I was wondering if anyone knew if I needed one or any type of bushing for the ball based on the transmission pictures I posted. My stock shifter didn't have one but I want to be sure!

The S4 trans has no bushing in the block as the S5 Does.

Now,looking into your trans..the pics show that you are missing the "selection spring".It holds the bottom ball of the shifter in the block with the hole in it.It essentially returns your shifter to upright so you don't "misgear" or have the shifter sit to one side or the other.
Replacement of the part is $4.
The task is a real snot bag.Tried it,hated it..said screw it,
Trans shop charged an hour to replace it.
You can run without it,no big deal. But it's nice to have when you shift quick and know that you won't go back in a gear.

EDIT: the Pics posted by the Responder show an FD C'c shifter which has the Bushing..
FC doesn't have that.

My C's was S4 Shifter **** thread pattern.I had a machine shop alter the threads to accept an S5 ****.(smaller thread)

Wait so am I still missing the return spring? My shifter seems to feel fine but if you could let me know if you meant the I am missing it or if you were talking about the member who loaded the pics of his FD shifter was missing it. Thanks

Well ya it will shift fine without the spring but your shifter will not return to "neutral" as it normally would without the spring. It will just stay in the "track" (say the 1st to second gear position) that you had it in.
The transmission needs to be either out of the car or pretty well Down out of the way of the car to get at the end of the trans in order to get the parts off and replaced.
So as I said it's a real snot bag,an inconvenience..BUT the trans will still shift.
The spring has nothing to do with the transmission Shifting into a gear.Just the shifter position.

If you feel you can live without the spring then just screw it and do without it.
If you want to "learn some ****"..and I mean it will be a Lesson(remember, snot bag..lol) then go ahead. But Honestly I have done some tedious mechanical stuff...and I Hated this.
That is why I got a shop to change it.My hair is grey enough.
