CRC Block Weld & Hello!

Hi all,

First off a newbe here, over in the UK so mostly been on MRC and FDUK but thought I'd come to you guys with a problem I'm good like that

I've got a 1994 FD and now I'm pretty sure my water seals have died. Now the thing is, the car runs great in every other respect! Starts good hot and cold so I'm confident the compression is all OK. Just those damned water seals.

I've read this: http://www.fd3s.net/o-ring_fix.html

And also seen there's a few people on here who have had a good sucess with this method, how much more milage have they got out of the motor? Again the only reason I'm thinking this is because everything else is good, if the compression was down I'd just get the motor rebuilt (also new house = no money so anything else would be a good first choice ).

And is the CRC copper weld the same as this: http://www.kalimex.co.uk/section.htm...=01.03.&pgid=2

Also the Purple Power Degreaser? Is that a specific engine degreaser? Is there something that's easier to get hold of over here in the UK that does the same?

Sorry for the long 1st post, and would apprecaite your comments!

Thanks,
Mark

I know this is an old thread, but did you ever try the block weld? How did it turn out? I'm temped to try it on my engine and have heard many good and horrible things about it.

Hi there,

Yeah I did give it a go in the end, and it did do OK for a while, however the same problems have come back and I was in the process of moving house so the car's sat gathering dust at my old mans place.

I only used one bottle as opposed to 3 stated in the above link, so maybe I'll try again with 3 bottles of the stuff... I have the rebuild kit (purchased in NZ, so a fair bit cheaper for me!) so worst case I'll just have to bite the bullet and get it rebuild / make a pigs ear of it myself.

It must be said it did work tho, sadly not long term, but after the first dosage I must have done around 2000 miles without a hitch!

HTH,
Mark
