Coolant seals??

So I've got an 86 GXL, and I've determined there is most definitely a problem with the coolant system. I've stopped driving it and need to try to figure out what EXACTLY it is. I've done a pressure test of the coolant system and of course...FAILED!! I'm noticing the same symptoms as most people: White, sweet smelling smoke from exhaust. Overflow tank FILLS and when running a while will BOIL! Can't tell exactly but a lot of the signs point to coolant seals... What else could it be?? Aside from hoses or the Rad cap, are there any other possibilities, or even something else I should check for??

White sweet smelling smoke from exhaust, means coolant is getting into to combustion chamber/ rotor housing. This is typical of a coolant seal leaking. Hoses, radiator, caps, water pumps can all leak, but they won't cause coolant to get in the combustion chamber.

I was afraid that would be the case. So this definitely means rebuild time. How much do rebuilds normally go for on FC's? Assuming I do more than just the coolant seals or whatever other problem is causing the leak.

you can just replace water seals, but there is a good chance once you get inside that you will feel obliged to replace more.....
