Consolidating All My Rotary Questions
Consolidating All My Rotary Questions
So I finally got started on cleaning parts and getting ready for my rebuild and notice a few things that have me concerned but I also knew I was going to have many more questions in the future so I consolidated them all into this thread. Here are my questions:
Question #1-2: After cleaning and inspection of parts, I noticed on one of the irons that it looks as if someone has sanded on it. I will post pics below but I need to know if this will affect anything when it comes time to seal the motor (after rebuild). You can see in the picture that it is shinier on that lip that the rest of the housing.
Also the same thing on the rotor. It is sort of rounded (best way to describe it) but it still has a sharp edge just slanted slightly (barely noticable but I can tell its off). Will that affect anything (Pic below) Hard to tell from the pic but it is on the edge where it is shinier
Question #3: Does the eccentric shaft need any machine work done or do you leave it alone? (pic below)
Question #4: The guy I got the motor from had it apart and on a shelf. I noticed there is rust on the inside of the rotor itself. Will this have any negative affect on anything? (pic below)
Thanks in advance. I want to be sure I have a good motor before I proceed with the rebuild.

1 and 2 are fine. 3 looks fine. Make sure to measure the journals and runout according to the manual. Can't see 4, but it should beboknif its just flash rust. Just make sure they're clean.
Forgot to put pics for Q4 but thanks for reply. Appreciate it. Here are pics to question 4:
