considering an electric water pump

I am thinking of buying an electric water pump and was hoping to get some input from people already using them. First off, the motor will be a p-port road racing motor, so my main concern was how do I find out what flow rate I will need? I was thinking about using a davies-craig 30 gpm pump with the rotary works adapter since the davies craig pump is proven in other road racing motors, and I would avoid having to use costly fittings and adapters. But on the other hand I know I saw somebody using a stewart components 55 gpm pump, but I think he had a turbo drag car so that may be overkill for what I need. But if you are or know who I am talking please chime in and let me know the specifics of the system like which water pump adapter u are using
