Question Clearcoat??

I plan on waxing/polishing the 7 in about 2 weeks...I was looking for what the best wax/polish was and I decided to get some Zaino...I wrote an email to Sal Zaino and he asked if my car had a clear coat or not....I did not know, I would suppose it did...I did a search on the forum, and came up really confused...some ppl say that it does, others it doesn't....well I want to know if any of you guys KNOW whether it is clearcoat or not...I have a 95 VR PEG never repainted, don't know if that would matter??

Your car HAS a clear coat, all the newer more modern cars all have a clear coat. There is a simple test, get some paint cleaner, and rub it on the car. If the towel lifts off clean, than you have a clear, if there is color of your car on the towel, than you dont have clear. I know the dist. for the zaino products, tell him Huy (we) says Hi. Its expensive!

when i had my 95 integra, there were some real dull spots, like on the spoiler. one of my friends, who's black, rubbed his finger on my spoiler or somethin and it gave it some shine back. i think the clearcoat had dulled, but his grease/pomade brought it back a little. not the best test by any means, just my late night ramblings..

Zaino is a really good product but crazyazn gave you the easiest way to tell if it is clear coated or not. The local zaino guy that I get it from email addy is KanTexOk@aol.com. He met me 5 minutes from my house ( i think he lives in the plano/carrolton area).

It is very confusing and the only real way to find out is do the above.

First off Mazda's paint isn't the best so you may have had a clearcoat at one time. Also VR is the worst at fading. Alot of VR's did not have a clearcoat and most of those tested were base models and was the same outcome for other colors too. Being a 95 PEP I would assume you have it.
