chrome dipped parts FTL due to heavier weight and the amount of heat they absorb still.
You can do it yourself but it takes time, patience, and some know how to get them looking right. The internet has great info on DIY polishing of aluminum parts.
Powder coating is another option, you can chrome/polished look powder coat or you can have an unlimited choice of colors to choose from. You just have to find someone that does it locally or have to send the part away to have it done.
Even tho i'm in japan, if you got a spare UIM i'll polish it for ya for say $100 and that includes supplies with a 10 day turn around, that's just the kindness from my heart. Plus send some plugs and i'll even remove your double throttle assembly.

I got one done right now and another on the car that's somewhat got work done while I was on leave a couple months back, but had to throw it on early so I could drive the car to work.
I threw in the last part cause plugs are super crazy expensive over here compared to $7-9 each stateside.
Also I did forget to mention ceramic coating, if done it works really awesome at preventing heatsoak and it's really awesome to have done on the inside and outside of a downpipe.

But it's your engine.
Water pump you can order online, alternators you can just order the polished covers. the front cover will just get dirty as **** cause of the belts running.
