chemically cleaning aluminum condenser

Sorry for the duplicate post but I didn't get too much help in the 3rd. gen section.

What chemicals can be used to clean an air conditioning condenser or radiator?
The condenser has road tar, paint over spray, ect. on it from the previous owner. How can I clean in between the fins? Hopefully there is a chemical designed to clean aluminum. If necessary the condenser can be dipped. I steam cleaned it already and that helped.

It just seams like it would be a shame to put the dirty one back after I spent many hours relocating it and making new lines and ducting.

I don't want to buy a new one because I want to keep my left ********.

"ANY ADVICE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED

I would have but I already sold it. That was the problem ( YOU DON'T GET MUCH FOR SMALL PIECES )

My RX7 has definitely put a hole in my check book. Hell - I could have built a 700 + HP. street able V8 for the fraction of the cost. BUT WTF. I would be just like everyone else then.

I am going to wash my condenser in a light acid solution then hit it with a neutralizer. I have already dipped some 6061 T6 and other scraps in it to see the affects. In a week, after I check my pieces, I will dip my condenser. Hey thanks for the advice anyway.

paint stripper?

doesn't really hurt aluminum that i have noticed and should at least get rid of your overspray, pressure washing should get rid of the rest.

Yes, I used aircraft paint remover to remove powdercoat on wheels and it leaves the aluminum and its anodized finish (if it has it) perfect.

The fumes do the work, so slop the stuff on and put it in a big garbage bag to stew.

I used a hose with handle sprayer attachment and everything sluffs right off.

I would be careful using a high power pressure washer on the delicate fins of a radiator or condenser.

true, i guess you would have to be careful with a pressure washer.

i have used paint stripper to recondition aluminum wheels which is why i threw it out there, the aluminum brushed surface wasn't damaged by it.
