CDI Review Questions

Has anyone ran the Jacobs FC1000/2000/3000/40000 vs. the Motec CDI-4/8?

I've read that the 4000 is not recommended for street use due to overheating of the CDI box. Just wondering what opinions there are on which one is better, not which one is better for the dollar.

I have never used any of the jacobs line so i cannot comment.

the Motec unit is run in many top level sports cars and I personally have never seen one fail. The down side is they are pricey... a good alternative is the M&W unit which is almost identical and is also used in many forms of motorsports with much success.

stay away from EFI's cdi box i have seen 3 of them fail.

It's an insult to be comparing MoTeC to that Jacobs crap.

Mallory is a nice unit and M&W is a nice unit. The M&W is also pretty expensive. I'm hoping AEM can get there things together with the CDI...
