Catback issue

I have a full downpipe exhaust system on my fd, but it has a huge cat right in the middle of the car. the guy at the garage were i bought the car suggested i take the cat out and replace it with a straight pipe. to gain horse and decrese heat. plus the cat is a lil rusty. what do u guys think?

The guy at the shop has a highly modded fd and has owned it for 5years plus he hsas run into every problem you can think of with his fd. So is this stupid for my to do? and if so then why? if not then why? i need to know by this weekend.
Thnx guys ~WIll

What else is on your car?

Depending on your mods, adding a midpipe could cause problem controlling boost. That's not exactly desirable. He is correct, remove the catalytic converter will give more power and less heat under the car.
