Question carb adapter?

Ok I work at a machine shop and have the resources to build a carb adapter to run a edelbrock or holley or what ever on my stock intake. Does this work well with a stock intake and has it ever been done??

Beware that with Edelbrock, the throttle linkage will not clear the water pump housing without like 3-4" of spacers on a stock manifold. Even the Racing Beat manifold requires a 1" spacer.
