can apex seals be re-used???

can apex seals be re-used if they are in ok shape???

they can, but its really not worth it, unless you just rebuilt the motor, and something else went wrong. Its better to buy new seals. Most guys that reuse seals are not looking for long lasting engines.

7mm is spec. Are they taller than that?

If they're in good shape then yes, they can be re-used.

all internal seals, apex, corner, side, etc and be reused provided they're within tolerances. just looking at them wont get it, u MUST measure them with micrometers. but if ur like me and looking to get all the life possible out of ur build, it's best to use new, and that includes everything.

If you do reuse them, make sure they go back in the same position they came out of. ( same rotor, same point on the rotor)

I believe the numbers are...

8.0mm = brand new
Under 7.5mm -> replace "small" apex seal spring (that's what Mazda recommends!)
Under 7.0mm -> replace entire apex seal

it doesnt have to be on the same point of the rotor
side seals and corner seals only have to be riding on the same iron

the apex seals ony have to be riding on the same housings

it does NOT have to beon the same point.

my engine didnt even finish break in , then i broke an oil line and im gonna check the engine and pport it
