boost gauge lighting

has anyone successfully taken their boost gauge apart and changed the light bulb color to change the back lighting? i've heard autometer and a couple other brands can be taken apart and the bulbs changed... i have an apex'i mech gauge right now and i'm wondering if anyone has every taken one apart and changed the bulb.

My Autometer has a standard wedge bulb that snaps into the back. I would imagine any lit gauge has easily replacable bulbs. I used red ones from the ricer section at Pep Boys and it matches the stock red lighting very closely.

The apexi gauge is sealed bulb inside...never tried opening mine to get to it for fear of breaking the gauge.

Autometers is simple plug and play change.
