This is bad isn't it

I bought an s5 N/a motor that needed a rebuild. I opened it up and I found something that i believe is bad.

I would like someone's opinion on if this middle iron is salvageable, or if I should try and find a new one.

thanks
chris

It needed a rebuild alright.....that iron is beyond screwed, and not salvageable.

Hey, that looks like the motor out of my first FB. The previous owner parked it outside and left the hood and air cleaner off.

yeah this motor prolly sat outside for a while before I got to it, However it had white grease on ALL of the bearings so they mighta rebuilt it and then blew it.

Is this a common problem? or do they usually just blow a seal?

common problem with irons that have been overheated before. though more common with S4 irons more than S5
