my '85 has over 150k on it, runs great.... my '87 N/A had 78k on it when the engine died...

basicaly if you baby the car, the engine will die quick. if you abuse the car (overheating/no oil changes/don't wait for it to warm up fully before getting on it) it will die quick. if you treat it with love and respect, in an S&M kinda way then it will last a long long time.

200,000 miles on n/a properly maintained

150,000 miles on TII " "

100,000 miles on TT " "

this is what i got from this forum and the internet.

**** i wonder what the life of the renisis engine will be

maybe 300,000!!

as far as causing death to the rotary

n/a the oil thingy in the eccentric shaft, once it goes oil will not get to the bearings and BAM you have a dead motor from oil starvation.

TII same thing as n/a and just not knowing what mods to do for engine longevity

TT same oil thingy in eccentric shaft and same thing as TII

i am no expert so if i got any of this wrong forgive me im learning!

there are other things that can cause a rotary to die, i know! but if you keep everything else up to par it should last longer than a piston engine.
