Air pump
Air pump
I tried posting this in the 2nd gen forum, but I'm not getting any responses so I thought I would try here also. I have an 86 GXL. I've found a used air pump for sale. Now I just have to get a belt right? When someone uses a block off plate, does the replace the air pump or the acv? Because if it replaces the ACV, would I need to get a new one in order to open the 6th ports with the airpump? Also, is there anything else I need to hook up except the air pump belt and the vacuum hose to the 6 port nipple?
ummm let me give thsi a shot.
The palte block off the spot where the ACV was.
you will need the mounting brace for the airpump, along with the belt.
You will aslo need to conect the Split airpip I think. There are also 2 Very small vacuum line behind the ACV that conect to the split airpip or sometign like that.
Look for pics and diagrams

On a 86 model the auxillary ports are opened by exaust gas pressure. The ACV and the airpump have nothing at all to do with the operation of the auxillary ports.
Do buy the air pump and install it and the acv. Make the car work like it was meant to. Does not Pa have emissions testing???? You need the acv to pass emissions along with the airpump.
