hey guys i just got my 1993 rx7 with only 17k miles it was in a slight front end crash but nothing to bad. my question is at cold start up for about maybe 10 second it has a air surg. you can hear the air pump and turbo spool up
loud after that it idles normal. after when it is worm and first start up it will start normal. i thought it is me taking off the battery and it reset somthing on its computer, but thats not the case cuz now i got a battery on there and still spools
up loud only on cold start up. cold/first start up. need to no did i conect somthing wrong. tell me what you guys think about this thanks

the noise gose ..... start up quit shuuuuuuuuu then gets louder shuuuuuuuuuuuuu
shuuu louder shuuuuuuuuuuuu you can hear the turbo and sound like air pump to rpm is also getting high. then idles back down and idles normal. this all happen in about a 10 second time period

 

i dont think you need to worry,when you start your car it will run rich,the air pump starts up and its job is to suck in air from the air filter box and blow it into the exhaust to clear it,its noisey but you need it,the ecu runs a rich mixture on cold start ups,just let it warm up before you drive.

 

hey thanks. everything is good now its what i thought seems like the ecu is resetting it self making the air pump seems to reset it self making it have a big surge but thanks for the info
that also helps to i dident know the air pump brings it back to the exhaust rx7 motor is new to me but i am getting to know it alot

 

thanks guys my car is running just fine now i place a battery and charge it up then i start up my rx7 on cold start and yes it still made that surge from the air pump but it gose away after 10 sec. so after i let it idle for a while i wait untill the next day to just check out the start up.
start up just fine now, the loud surge from the air pump seems that when you remove the battery for couple hours or a day or so it reset its self from the ecu or somthing. thanks for taking a look at this add and trying to help
