88 rx7 turbo 2 Help with getting Spark!

ok so i just bought a turbo 2 rx7 but the body is a na and the guy put the fuel and starter and everything to switches and in order for me to get spark i have put a power wire to the ignition to the battery amd when i do that it will work but the wire will get hot. i know im not sopposed to do that but i had to test that. any ideas what could be the problem? and also the battery is relocated to the trunk and when i try to crank it , it cranks slow even when the battery is fully charged. please help. thnks

The only suggestion I can give ya is to start sorting the wiring out.
Nobody here can really tell you what the Previous owner did just by posting.
Pics may help you though,so post up some pics and see where that goes.Show what you are trying to explain/describe.

Yeah pics will help, is the harness from a N/A or a TII and are you using a stock ECU? Ive rewired my 88 vert on 2 different swaps with in 6 months and have helped a few people with wiring questions.
