87 TII performance building...

Hey guys I have a question regarding performance on my 87 TII. At mazfest I was talking to a few people who recommended to me various methods to start building power (a base so to say) and I wanted to see what other people had to say.

Based on what I was told and the research I've done so far I was thinking of first getting a haltech p1000, then open up my exhaust (maybe straight pipe with a resonator and muffler only), then get a tune. After a little while I'd probably get a cx racing turbo kit from mazdatrix (fmic, bigger turbo, change the tune again for a bit more power). Kyle mohan recommended this, however, I know there are many ways to build power. Opinions?
Thanks!

to get more help you should probably put outline your plans/goals. where do you want to end up? that would be most helpful in helping others help you evaluate if you are choosing the right parts or if you're wasting your time.

the advice you received (starting with the Haltech and exhaust) is a little unorthodox, but personally, i like it. others may not, and that's fine, too. if your budget supports that path, i say go for it.
