3rd gen starter wont crank

Hey guys this is giving me a little problem figuring out. My car was running fine and then one day it wouldn't crank everytime you turn the key. I thought it the ground switch above the clutch pedal so I disconnected the switch and spliced the two wires together. It started fine. I havn't drove the car in a few months, and now the car won't crank once again. I made sure the wires were still spliced and everything and that the battery has plenty of power. Can someone please help me?

Thanks,

Chris

try tapping the starter solenoid and see if it makes a difference. could also be a faulty starter relay.
