the 20b will actually be less civilized and less rewarding. Ls1's are very good motors that dont have to deal with the heat issues of rotary engines. You think your 13b gets hot sitting in traffic even with the fans on full blast, why dont you try sticking another rotor in there and see how much heat you get. There really is nothing silly about putting a great motor into a great chassis (mustangs have a terrible chassis, and are pig heavy). A 20b swap into a rx7 will actually be a bit heavier than the ls1.

Like stated before, i love the rotary. i just cant see spending a lot more money for less reliability, less power/price ratio, less mpg, and less drivability.

i dont agree with your comment on keeping v8s where they belong (but to each their own). On the other hand, i have ridden in a single turbo 20b, and it was really, really fun.

ok, i have one more argument that is FOR the 20b. Rotary engines, DO sound much, much better.

absolutely, if you plan on modding the motor at all, then start with the ls1. The short block is exactly the same as the ls6. If you want to keep the motor bone stock, then why not get those extra horsepower out of the ls6.

Wow, another fustercluck of rotards. Joy. Dont ask anything about engine swaps outside of the 'other engine swap' section unless you want the exact same arguement to start, just FYI. Or stop by torquecentral's v8 rx7 section... http://www.torquecentral.com/forumdisplay.php?f=11 <-

20B - nice, but its extremely expensive. And if you knock, bye bye seals. But hey, if you GOTTAHAVEAROTARY... prepare to pay for it. Out the ***. AND have all the other expenses on top of that you would if you were still tooling with a 13b.

LS6 - dont bother, see below.

LS7 - why bother? You could resleeve a LSx block to get to 400 cid, get a mild cam, a tune, and have 500 to the wheels. The LS7 is very expensive, its very detuned considering the power it puts out for a 427 cid motor, and a lot of that expense is in the newness, the corvette tax, and the dry sump oiling system. 15K for the performance you get is ridiculous for just a crate motor IMHO.

LS1 - much less expensive, can make or break the performance of a LS6 for far, far less, has bolt in mount kits for cheap available, more reliable, more MPG, more support, more people can WORK on it, etc.

ALSO...

No offence intended, but you should read up more about everything... asking a question like "LS6 vs 20B" besmirks me as if you really dont know a whole lot about either motor. If you wanna play with a swapped rex, some that are already swapped are usually for sale or theres someone willing to take you for a drive or LET you drive.

And, well, such experiences usually do well to shut up the rotards who decry them

I say 20B all the way...all the way to terrible gas mileage, more weight, and aweful reliability. If you like not being nervous while you mash the gas, an LS1/6 is the way to go. The only difference between the two is the heads depending on the year. And if you get the 6 you will have to convert to the LS1 camaro accessories. All and all they do everything the same when modded equally so just get the LS1.

WHOA! NELLY,, I never thought this would turn into such a wild fire, anyway I put my silly calculator to work and its just about 50-50, seems tho I;ll have to build both cars to see which is the most fun to drive, and the LSx would be automatic, and WAIT a 20B turbo ,with auto can shift at full throttle so i wouldnt lose boost between shifts, Damn you guys make me nuts, making desicions. thanks love to all, for you inputs.

boo on the auto trans. Unless its a drag race specific car, autos have no place in a sports car (regardless of which engine you choose). They arent nearly as fun to drive.
