1993 Automatic **How to get trans out of LIMP mode**
If any of you have information about how to attemtp to get the cars trans out of limp mode i'd greatly appreciate it.
Situation:
When you start the car it starts and runs great, wen you go to drive it starts out in third gear, It has a D,S,L and a hold button, if you move it into L it will switch to second gear, the hold button light doesnt come on so its just not working. Please inform me on ways to fix this issue. Thanks
Bill

May want to disconnect the battery. Not sure what's the best way to reset the trans... but it's worth the shot...
Do you have a shop manual? I downloaded one online. I wonder if it says anything about it... I don't have it on this computer but I can check it out.

if your trans was messed up with some sort of problem that would be fixed by resetting the ecu the hold light would be flashing. I'll bet the same would happen if it were in some sort of limp home mode, since the ecu would have to know about it, thereby putting it in "limp" mode. It has a self diagnosis checker and the hold light flashes if anything is wrong. You can jump two contacts in the diagnostic checker to find out - TAT and GND. Give me the # of flashes and I will look it up in my manual. How do you know it's starting in 3rd. Does your hold button work?
