FL 1991 RX7 convert of fritz

Suddenly my 1991 RX7 Convert's warning lights came on and stayed on. Car started idling rough as well. Car has 110,000 and I am original owner. Any thoughts? Stu

Warning lights generally come on when the alternator is failing. There is a relay within the idiot lights which receives a signal from the alternator's White/Black wire. When the wire has a ground signal it causes the lights to turn on as a group. Again. it's indicative of a failing alternator.

Will testing the alternator's volage output confirm or any other test I can perform to confirm? Or just replace the alternator.

The White/Black wire should not have low voltage while the car is running for when it does it activates the relay inside the idiot lights and thus the lights all turn on. It is possible the W/B wire is accidentally grounding out but if you unplug this wire while running and the lights go out then the problem lies within the alternator.

Thanks for the lead. It turns out the alternator belt was broken. Once I looked at the alternator it was obvious. Thanks again
