i just bought a 91 rx-7 non turbo and for some reason sometimes i just start the car up and it heavely smokes and i can tell is oil burning and i dont see what the problem could be, my turbo II used to smoke because of bad seals in the turbo but i dont see why the non turbo smokes like that i mean is just crazy the way it smokes ,, and whats really crazy is that sometimes dont even smoke at all , only 1 time out of 10 im lost on this one please help!!

It's still a rotary engine. There's a possiblity that your oil rings are shot in your engine and are allowing oil to bypass and making your car smoke. Mine's doing that right now. You have to open the engine up to replace just those rings but you end up replacing more parts because it's a pain in the butt to get to them so you might as well take care of other things.

Do some more searches in the 2nd gen section and search for "smoking"

Good luck!

but if my oil rings were shot , shouldnt the car smoke all the time , i mean it would smoke 1 out of 10 times and if i take the car down the road , the smoking quits in less than 2 minutes

It sounds exactly like the oil control rings. In the initial stages, it won't always smoke. Given enough time it, will start smoking at each cold start. This isn't a guess, I'm speaking from experience. I'd start saving for a future rebuild (that rebuild may be years away), and ignore it.

Maybe one day I'll get one.

Good luck with your sell!
