Unhappy 1986 13b MAF?

Hey there, I just bought my first rx7. It is a N/A 13b injected motor. I towed the car home and put fresh gas in it and got it to start up.
The problem is that after the car does it's 3k rpm quick warm up and jumps down to idle it goes all the way down to idle and is very shaky while that low, then jumps up to 1500 and bounces up and down between 1500 and 1100 or so. I have not done a compression check but will do so very soon.
Also, I unplugged one of the lower plugs and it ran the same, plugged it back in and pulled the other one and the car died...?
EDIT: The car is an automatic and when I put it in fwd or reverse gear the car will only move when rev'd and then dies immediately so i had to N to D coast to get it around the house to the back...
I hope to get some decent help as I am new to the rotary world!
Thank you!
Neil

vacuum leak or throttle position sensor. the airflow meters rarely fail.

Ugh, i did the compression test with a normal needle tester and just went for the max compression. The front rotor still had about 100 while the rear rotor is gone at 0... Is there any weird circumstances that something sticks or what have you or am i pretty much down the path of a rebuild?

you could have a stuck seal but really man, the engine is probably 25 years old and it will need to be overhauled.
