1980 rx7 hard to start?

Hi I just got this car that was sitting for aleast 10yrs I notice the carb seocndary butterfly is stuck so I try to free it up and I got it to move the way it suppose to. Anyhow I try starting the car but it's take a while before it turn over and also it does not idle after it been started? Can anyone help me out on what to look for. I know it's getting gas I hear the fuel pump and I check the hose that bring gas to the carb and it's putting out gas like crazy. Thanks

was it sitting indoors or outdoors? if the car was sitting for 10 years and was NEVER started within that time, there's a good chance that the carbie needs to be rebuilt, even if it's just on G/P ...

however, before you go there, it might be worth your while to check for vacuum leaks. i'm sure 10 years in Jersey's atmosphere will dry-rot some of the rubber vacuum hoses with the car just sitting there. also, is the gas in the tank the same stuff that it went to bed with? that may also be an issue.

did you change the gas filter?
