After some pretty hard testing at high rpm today, my transmission is sticking in third gear. I can get it out of 3rd with some quick taps on the accelerator. All other gears work well. Recently I bought it with 13B bridge engine with 4 barrel Holley. Not sure if there are very many transmissions left out there for 79's? I live in the DFW area. Any suggestions or ideas what could be causing this 3rd gear sticking?

 

consider the shifter bushings and changing the oil. if they don't change anything, then look deeper. maybe the synchros?

out of curiosity, how high are you revving?

 

We revved up past 8000. Sweet spot was pass 7000! This engine may be for sale if I decide to go with a street build. Its a beauty, but too much high end power for me!
