spark plugs have fire but trailing plugs foul but the lead plugs are dry as a bone any ideas ?

 

Sounds like what you are saying is that the leading is firing and the trailing is not. Does it even try to start? What else have you checked? I would check timing, compression, change fuelk filter, and anything else listed in the 1st gen specific FAQ in the no start thread.
