Hi all, I am going to buy a 12a engine and I would like to know how can I test if the engine is in good working condition, test stuff like compression, maybe start it out??

The engine doesn't have a tranny attached to it and some people told me that I need a tranny in order to start up the engine or to measure the compression in the rotors, is this true ???

Please give me some advices on how I can test the engine alone without the tranny since I am very new to the rotary world, Thanks.

thank you, after reading a few posts I see that all of the tests are done on the whole engines and not in my case scenario, I am trying to buy the motor alone to swap it to my toyota starlet and I need to test the compression and such so I know if the engine is in good condition.

Specific question is how can I test the compression on the engine alone without the tranny? What will I need to do it without getting a tranny, thanks.
