Holly?

Nikki?

Weber?

PAH!

All take 200000 parts to setup, and have distinct areas of weaknesses (mainly, huge fuel consumption, and mostly multiple-choke setups)

Ever had a thought about using an SU carb? Two HIF44 carbs would be more than enough for a standard-ported 12a, and you gain torque due to the constantly variable choke design. There's a company who does the conversion kit - but I've forgotten their name, only about $300.

And if you seal them, you can quite easily run a blow-through setup - the mini ERA had this setup from the factory, and boosted power from 60bhp, upto around 95bhp with virtually no additional reliability problems.

Oh, and as you can tell - I'm a firm beleiver in carbs, but my 92 mini has SPI, so I dont mind using that either!

Weak? from a 1.1 liter? ha!

exhaust is a must. even if you just rod out your 1st two cat converters, so *something*.

There is no such thing as a slammin intake on a carburetted car. There is only 1 carburettor, an expecially small Nikki 4-barrel (essentially a scaled down holley with vacuum secondaries). You can spend several hundred on a K&N filtercharger with the filter in the lid as well, but it still won't make more power. If you stick a straw into a small soda, you can suck x amount of soda per minute. If you put the same straw in a large soda, there is more soda to suck, but you can still only suck x amount of soda per minute. Replace soda with air, and the straw with the carb, and you'll have the picture.

For power, you can go to EFI on the 12A motor. But still, I'd think 135 would be about it without porting and exhaust.

Isn't it
1979-1983 12A=101hp
1984-1985 12A=105hp
1984-1988 13b=N/A 136 hp
1987-1988 13bt=180hp
1989-1990 13b N/A=160hp
1989-1990 13bt=200hp

I have a couple of the old dealers brochures and old magazine articles and that's what it lists. That's also what I have heard of everywhere else.

haha.. holy did I leave a mess here..

I got it all worked out, passing aircare with 127RWHP on a large street port with side draft Mikuni PPH's. They are sexy, next step is on install the bottle on the injector bungs and I'll be pullin' mid 12's This car hauls *** now, can't imagine it with a 75hp shot of juice. I built my own headers and it's got a full 2 & 3/4 exhaust with a borla muffler. Sounds SEXY. Cheers evryone!
