Are the inlet ports and exhaust ports on different sides of the motor???

 

Is that a real 1.3 liter or is that 1.3 liters the way Mazda rates it?

Also, some white papers and explanations about the way the motor is made and how the valvetrain would be nice. As it is it just looks like a two rotor with a funky intake and a turbo I cant see.

Any FACTS or whitepapers behind this? It just smells fishy like that rotary/piston thing that has never run under its own power (but has on compressed air) or the quasiturbine that can only power a gokart.

Facts?

You have all the facts that I have. I asked to get some serious data sheets on it and they sad the manufacturer wants to keep that stuff under wraps for now. Asked for pics of the internals, but same thing again.

One fact that I know is a former employee for atkins and mazda is working on the design for this engine.

as far as not moving under its own power, did you not watch the video of it running? It takes power to make those clutches work.

as far as I know it started out as a concept for a custom snowmobile and has now moved into a semi-production concept once the protyping is complete. They expect to be done with testing by the end of this winter and moving into production by next fall (2007).

It's air cooled. You'll have to go look up how those were done to fully understand it. The intake and exhaust ports do enter in the same side of the engine internally but not externally.

 

Eh, Id like some technical papers before I pass judgement on it.

Also, in those videos it sounds like a strider from half life 2.

Hey no need to be a dick about it. Does the word "duh" come to mind? No I obviously didn't see any fans or coolant lines coming off of it. If I did it wouldn't have been consistent with my response. Now that I look hard enough, I can just make something out. Tell us then how the ports are configured and why they work where they are then. Explain it. That is assuming that it is the same rotor shape that we have. Air cooled rotaries have ports layed out just like that in the housings and air flows through the housings and rotors which is why I stated that.

 

as I stated earlier, they won't release the port configuration information. They won't release pictures of the internals. As information becomes available I am posting it here. You know as much about it as I do.

The guy I've been talking to about it says that they are currently testing different port configurations to see which will produce the best power in this application. Also told me that maybe in a month or two he will see if he can get me a few pics of the internals.

it looks kinda like the suzuki re5 engine but 2 of them back to back. so it's dual rotor. I was thinking about doing this to a civc but don't have the money right now

 

This engine, is made by a company called ROTA-MAX. They bought out a company (Freedom Motors) and then made large improvements to it , and has made further development. The engine is all-aluminum, and is also modular design, allowing multi-rotors to be made with only a purchase of a side housing. The intake comes in through the rotor, cooling it in the process, and heating the fuel to very high temps. It then travels into the rotor housing, where it burns very lean, creating ultra clean emissions, and great VE. There is only needle bearings, and next to zero oil pressure, so the oil pump loads are next to zero. Add in it has no waterpump, and even less is being lost. The housings, and rotors, are all cermet, and ceramic coated. Its emissions already are less than even the newest ULEV III levels as well, and its marketed to take over 2-stroke market, and more as it goes. thats insane. 170hp weighing in at 150lbs...thats crazy. i want to see this thing turbo charged. talk about a motor swap (if possible) to save weight. and by modular u mean that u can just purchase a housing and make a 3 rotor??? or even a 4??
