[GarageAlpha] Subframe Collars for Chassis Stiffening

FRONT

Garage Alpha is a new concept dedicated to introducing NEW products along with reviving products that since left production.

MAZDA RX-7 [FD3S] SUBFRAME COLLARS

If you're not familiar with Subframe Collars / Rigid Mounts, I highly suggest check out the thread that got the discussion going:
https://www.rx7club.com/group-buy-pr...ar-kit-1074163

In that thread are a couple videos, lots of discussion, some installs and reviews. But it boils down to this:
From the factory subframes are installed quickly so as not to slow down the production line. This is done with ill fitting bolts that leaves an inconsistent mating surface between vital components. Mazda RX-7 [FD3S] Subframe Collars install between the subframe and the chassis and take up the slack left by these undersized bolts. The result is improved handling, more consistent camber settings, less vibration and improved braking.
  • Install Requires Lowering of Subframes (NOT Removal). Each "collar" is slid into place and the bolts are re-tightened.
  • Each set covers both front and rear subframes and includes 14 inserts.

Yep. I can e-mail them over. Super simple install - doens't require subframe removal - just loosening bolts, a bit of a pry then slide them in.

Each one slips into a specific bolt / stud location in the subframe. The flat ones fit into the subframe where the opposite side is body (and thus flat). Those are the front four positions (A) of the front subframe and the front four positions (A) of the rear subframe.

The inserts that extend both ways fill in the area around a bolt / stud that has an area to fill on both sides. It's all very self explanatory when you get in there.

FRONT

REAR

...I can also see why that picture causes confusion - you aren't seeing the OTHER side.

FRONT

REAR

Does that help?

Hi guys,
I'm supplying these to a shop to install, but I admit I can't figure them out based on the pictures. Do they go BETWEEN the chassis and the subframe, or on the outside of the subframe between it and the bolt head?

If the location uses a bolt, I could see just prying the subframe away enough to slip them in between the subframe and the chassis, but if it's a location with a stud, those things are long, so you'd pretty much need to drop the subframe to be able to get them in between the subframe and the body. The instructions are all in Japanese, so it's not clear which are the "A" vs. the "B" and "C" collars.

Thanks!
