Not saying you're wrong, but has this been verified? That would worry me if this is true...

 

There is a video floating around where they tested both the CAS and this setup. With the timing light on leading with the CAS you could see a +/- 2 degree (4*) scatter, with the FFE kit total scatter was less than .5* variation. I guess when you are close to the edge or your tune, suddenly 2 degrees creep in and BANG!
