Pics of my turbo Series 2

Hey guys,

Here are some pics of my '81 with a S5 13BT. Some of you may be interested in taking a look.

Any opinions and advice are welcome.

Enjoy.

This first pic is of the car from behind and slightly to one side.

This next pic is of the interior. You'll notice the dash is pretty cracked up. I'll eventually get around to removing it to get reskinned.

The hole above the ashtray will house a couple of gauges in the not too distant future.

This one shows the engine bay from the turbo side.

Just ask questions if there is anything you want to know.

Oops, I'll attach the pic, in just a sec.

The last pic is a close up of the turbo, showing the Turbosmart BOV and Gated Boost Controller.

Thanks

Thanks for the good comments guys.

It still needs work. It still runs the standard drivetrain, so I really need to install a turbo II gearbox, and a stronger diff before I start to extract real power from the engine. Then I focus on suspension, and looks. It won't stay a sleeper for ever, I plan to do some cosmetic stuff down the track sometime.

It sure is a lot of fun to drive though...

Thanks.

S2-13BT, I remember you coming to see me one day asking about modifications.

A friend of mine used to own that car (Dom)... If you need some help with mods drop me a line.

Regards.

Pete.

Rice,

I remember going to see a friend of yours (Grant) asking about mods. I'm sure you weren't there, at least not that I remember. I had heard of you previous to that, except I didn't know your name at that time. Maybe I just didn't put 2 'n 2 together. I only found out your name because my brothers car is the red one getting the 13B bridgeport from Grant.

Sorry dude, I've got a shocking memory... ask anyone!

Anyway... I don't think anyone on this forum would say no to advice and help with mods from you. My next step will be a gearbox, so I'll track you down when the time comes. I'd like to do most of the work myself, I'm just not sure about some specific mods to make it all fit.

Thanks,
Christian.

Yeah, I may have heard some goss from Grant and a little from my brother (also from Grant, I hope I'm not dobbing him in ), but if it's what I think I know, I really can't wait. Now to change the subject...

I know that when it comes to advice I'd already decided that Grant was the guy I was going to talk to. Hopefully I'll catch up with you sometime for a chat as well.

I'm really impressed with the way you think about every mod that goes onto the cars you build, ever since I read the write up of your car in Zoom. Although I'm just starting out with car modding I'm very interested in the theory behind each mod, and want to soak up as much info as possible. So, I really respect the way you go about it.

Keep it up,
Christian.

MAN I want to do that so bad.. I've got a spare TurboII trans sitting around, and a blown TurboII motor, I should just do it.. pull my "wrecked" parts car out of the garage and turn it into a real sleeper.

Barwick: Go for it, it's a whole heap of fun.

My car currently has a fairly restrictive exhaust, which, while reducing the power a bit does have the advantage of being reasonably quiet. Which helps the sleeper image.

This car is destined to have a short life as a sleeper though, as funds allow, it will get 17" wheels, and a respray in some bright color. Not to mention a 3" mandrel bent exhaust all the way through.
