i used to use castrol gtx (20/50) but after i did some mods on my 88 TII-see sig. i decided to switch to synthetic and premix to be safe. i have the original engine with 107,000 miles on it. i use mobile 1 full syn. i can feel the difference too. alot more smoother and i feel safe boosting 10-12 psi now. i dont want to take the engine apart yet in order to get to the oil regulator. so i figured what the hell.

i kinda lied in the poll. im ABOUT to run castrol syntec full synthetic.
at the moment i have pennzoil 20-50 in there. i ditched the OMP about 2800 miles ago and am very soon changing my oil out to synthetic.

 

I went with the cheap *** oil. Mostly I have 10W-30 of whatever brand(Walmart, Penzoil, Castrol, and Gas station specials) I have also used just plain 30W.
My engine has 102K miles on it, and it still runs strong.

 

Forgot to say that I change the oil every 2500 miles or sooner. That's why I don't care what kind of oil it uses. I never noticed any difference between the more expensive oils. haha

 

Regular dino juice, Castrol 20w50.

Don't use sync since they dont' burn well so you get a lot of carbon build up. Cost me an engine.

I know the worst oil gotta be QUAKER STATE...no one I know uses that oil, except for losers. Also I wouldn't trust any Walmart Brand Oils either. I know BMW uses Castrol oils in all their cars. And I've heard a lot of good things from Mechanics about Pennzoil Oil. And for sure Mobil 1 is world renowed and used a lot in racing.

 

For my old t2, I used Kendall 20/50.

I had used everything from Castrol to Redline....for some reason, my t2 like Kendall.? It just ran smoother.

 

mobil 1 5w-50 fully synthetic in the sump and premix in the gas tank - the best combo a turbo rotary can have

Peter - Rice Racing reckons Mobil 1 5w-50 is the best stuff to use in rotarys, reckons its better than the Castrol R 5w-50 which costs slightly more

 

I find with the Mule **** my gas mileage suffers, so I am sticking to using 100% Mazola Corn Oil, works great with my TII and for making fries

 

i use motorcraft or valvoline,,i work at ford,,so i guess you could say i pick the cheapest oil,,because hey its free

 

a question for you guys using full synthetic. what are your oil change intervals at? i just swithced to mobil 1 full syn. and i hear this stuff is the best or in the top 3.

im thinking of keeping it in there till i hit 4000 miles with it, BUT changing the oil filter at 2000. what do you guys think about this and what are you guys doing?

 

if my car was a daily driver i'd change the oil and filter every 6 months
seen as how it only gets thrashed once or twice a month, then once a year is sufficient in my mind

 

I am sticking to using 100% Mazola Corn Oil

since i am using premix (1oz popcorn : 1gal gas)
i think it comes out best using coconut oil.
although my car has gotten a little fatter than when i was using corn oil.
now it looks like it has a widebody kit.

 

Casrol GTX 20-50, still have OMP. Saw a thread here about an OMP aircraft mod with a separate OMP reservoir. Looks cool, run two cycle thru the OMP, synthetic in the motor, no worries!

 

Ted: Why Rotella? I thought that had some special additives for diesels only.

Personally, I use Pennzoil, or have lately, based on input from Paul Yaw (if you know who that is). I used to work at Advance Auto Parts, so I got ADV oil, which was made by Texaco, for next to nothing. Their oil is now made by Shell. I never noticed any difference in brands, other than price. In fact, in discussing the topic with my fellow techs at the Porsche/Mercedes/Infiniti dealer I used to work at, the consensus was that no engine has failed from brand of oil, only from lack of sufficient lubrication.

BTW, I remember hearing somewhere that it only costs a couple pennies more per quart to make fully synthetic vs "natural" oil.

And I have no TII yet, so I posted and voted out of defiance :p

The bad part is, there's only two major oil manufacturers in the world; Exxon-Mobil and Texasgulf. What you pay for is the additives, which, IMHO, have no noticable difference. Like it was said, i have trouble believing an engine died from type of lubrication rather than lack of lubrication.

P.S. I've run the rotella which is great for HD apps. but normally just stick to castrol 20w-50, and that's b/c my dad hammered it in years ago.

 

I have been told by several rotary mechanics to only ever run Penrite HPR 40 oil in my 13BT.

Alot, not all, but alot, of people here in Aus seem to run with Penrite.
At least most've the rotary owners i've spoken to.

If it ain't broken, don't fix it. So i'll continue to run Penrite HPR 40, unless someone scares me otherwise.

I'm running Mobil 1 synthetic and using this 2cycle OMP adapter that you are talking about. I run pure Yamalube 2 cycle oil in the OMP.

 

I really beg to differ about there being only two major oil manufacturers in the world! cause there is at least like 4 cause there is Petro Canada wich is the second largest oil company in the world owning more than 38% or oil refinaries! And you can't tell me that there is only the two that just soo happend to be in the states!!!

and i use Castrol GTX 10-W30 it works well and i don't get any residue!!!
