where does the TII engine come from?

All you have to do is find an 86-91 mazda rx-7 with a turbo...the thing that stands out about them is that the cars have a hoodscoop stock, and, when you open the hood, theres an intercooler on top of the intake manifold.

Lol,
not being able to think up better smart-*** responses, here's something that is actually informative (yeah, I know, boring eh?)
The Second Generation of Rx7s had a model known as the "Turbo II" Model. These came *from the factory* with Turbos build onto them. The cars themselves were built to handle the power of the turbo engine.
So when those cars bite the dust, their engines become highly-coveted 1st-gen swap parts. If you find a TII that just needs a simple rebuild, you're in great luck. If you find a TII in mint condition, you're even better!
You can tell a 2nd gen TII by the fact that it has the "TURBO II" stickers on it, or by popping the hood. The latter is better because you can see the actual turbo assembly rather than trusting that some ricer didn't just slap a TII sticker on his stock second gen!

And where is the guy who started this thread? Has he even come back to take in some of this knowledge?
I'm guessing it was cause of a lot of the erroneous respones he got back..although I was going to say the Storks brought them too.
87-88 Series 4 Turbo II
89-92 Series 5 Turbo II
Project84 is correct, the 1Gs in Japan and a few other countries got the 12A Turbo instead of the EGI GSL-SE.
And I'd guess the reason they didn't call the 3rd gens Turbo IIIs was the fact that all the 3gs came stock with twin-turbos so that was evident.
