Replace stock radio/EQ with after marker receiver?
I want to replace the stock radio/EQ with an after market radio/CD receiver. I called Cruthcfield and they said they have several receivers that will fit BUT some tabs need to be cut for the receiver to fit. They also said they has a faceplate that will fit. Has anyone done this and is it a major modification. I don't want to screw up the outer plate. How does the after marker receiver look after installation? Is Cruthchfield BS me or is this going to work?

Yeah it will work, a lot of people have put aftermarkets in. 84-85 nothing has to be cut, just a kit installed.
79-83 will have to have some metal corners filed. And the dash panel will have to be cut to accept a DIN radio (7in x 2in)
I personally perfer mounting the radio in an ISO DIN. That way the radio is actually mounted behind the face panel, and is then flush with the dash for a more factory look, but this takes a lot more patience to get it to look perfect.
Also wiring on these arent straight forward, this is probally a 7 out of 10 diferculty level to do. The ISO DIN being maybe an 8.
