I bought my 87' FC when I was 15

but it was/is N/A

Cons: (some I just thought of) turbo's are harder to work on, more expensive(parts, fuel, insurance) and not as reliable.

Pros: more power, much more potential, cool sound, cool looking hood.

thats all I can think of right now. Good luck.

hey dude ill tell you what ill make it easy on you ill trade you my non turbo for ur turbo its a better car for a first timer and you wont have to spend all that hard work on a car that youll blow up in a month mines would be more dummy proof unless u maxed it out all the time

Turbos have a higher blow up factor than NA's . If you dont know how to maintain one, and mod it correctly then get a NA.

Insurance is the same for the NA's and RX7's from what I looked at when I was 16. N/A's are quite a lot more reliable and are a little more forgiving than turbo's.

you'll need a lot of experience..... it's a BIG job... a lot of stuff to deal with... aaroncake has some info on how he did it and stuff here: http://www.aaroncake.net/rx-7/naturbo.htm .... it's a LOT of work... mad props if you can do it (mad props, aaroncake... MAD props...)

I know a lot of older people that have much more experince with building and driving fast cars and one of them told me it would be easier to just put an rx7 turboed engine in to replace the n/a once ive had the car for awhile and i was wondering if anyone had different opinions

IMO if you want to go turbo down the road sell the NA and buy the turbo. Cost wise, its really not worth it to do the swap. Unless your car has 0 rust and is like mint, i wouldnt waste the time.

I appreciate the advice the only problem is that taking out all the aftermarket parts that i put into it like suspension, stereo, wheels, and any bodywork ive done would be alot of work too. my older brother is almost done with putting a 350 into his 72' 240 Z so i have all the equipment and help but im sure when the time comes ill know what to do.

You need an entire turbo ii to do the swap, basically. An unstripped parts car is ideal if you do the swap... you need that much stuff

and by the way starting off with an NA is the best way to go less problems...and not to mention less likely to end up in a ditch or around a tree... get used to a NA and how the RX handles--then move into the turbo community when u get the hang of it...FYI
