Question how many people running Street Port plus all bolt-ons w/an Unlimited ECU ?

I will be running at 12 psi. with a Stage 2 street port and all the bolt ons including straight thru exhaust. Only other fuel mod. is a Walbro 255 high flow pump. Of COURSE...this will only be for about 6 months until I go with the Power FC. Just wondering how safe and how many people are running with a similar setup ? Again, I will not go over 12 psi. of boost until I do away with my G-Force Unlimited ECU.

I have the same question.....getting my motor ported and wondering if it is safe....I think it is as long as you stay below 13 psi

I'm assuming he is running race gas at 15 psi, and he must be at 100% duty cycle with the stock injectors

I blew my engine at 14.5 psi with 93 octane, and I actually thought about putting some 104 in before I raced!! big mistake not to

oh well, live and learn, and pay out the cash

if your injectors are flowing close to 100% and that fuel pump is truly an upgrade I would think you will be safe at 12psi but don't go any high
I think when you get near 14 psi you are really pushing it.

also what are you going to do to ensure that you don't go past 12 psi? Make sure it stays right there

lots of people have blown there motors and if you run lean at all it will happen to you too

is that computer you have the same as the pettit unlimited ecu that is supposed to be good for 14.7 psi?

yzf-r1: I feel your pain but instead of paying out the cash I will most likely be giving up the car

anyone else? I'm trying to decide if I need to get the 1300cc injectors and PFC to run a street ported engine, IC, and full exhaust at 13 psi....Pettit seems to think I should be fine, but of course they are a little (!) biased

IMO, I don't think there is a problem with his config (or ones like it). RTS3GEN has been tracking his car pretty hard for a number of years on that config.

I know he does use race gas from time to time, but I'm sure he's torn up some tracks on pump gas as well with no ill effects. He mostly does SCCA type track events with the occasional drag trip.

Just toss him a PM, I'm sure he won't mind answering a few questions.

The main thing is making sure everything (injectors, fuel pump, ect) are all flowing/working properly when running boost levels like that. I know RTS3GEN goes over his car with a fine tooth comb every week to keep things going for such performance. If you dialed the boost down to say around 13 PSI with all the bolt ons, I think you would be just fine (as long as everything else is working properly on the car).

believe me I'm not planning to run more than 13 under any conditions this time, it's not worth the risk for a few extra hp....the ported engine should flow better at lower boost anyhow

Props Kyle,
Thanks for that, You CAN run safely at 12 psi on pump gas ie 92 or 93, but I don't push anything over 13 on pump gas. I have a wide band at my disposal and my car runs about 10.9 to 11.1 at 13 psi on 92 octane. I find this is safe and effective configuration for street use. However, as you guys point out I ran my Dyno at 15psi with 3 gallons of 104 unleaded race gas and my A/F wideband reading was 11.1 at leanest. Remember you can be safe or sorry, just depends on the boost you run.

Tell you what, the non-sequential change is one of the best things I did to my FD besides going single turbo. When people say that it makes the car feel like it has a small single, they're absolutely right....not that I have a small single, because a Turbonetics 62-1 is definitely bigger than a T-04S.

Below 4000 rpms, the non-sequential and the 62-1 feel the same. About 4300 rpms, the single pushes you in your seat so hold on, where as the non-sequential....well, it was still pretty fast for stock.

Just outta curiosity (and because I might be doing this for a few days before I get an an aftermarket ECU)...

Can I run a streetported motor with NO mods other than a downpipe without an aftermarket ECU?

Any ill effects?

Stock ECU map's are fairly conservative when it comes to fuel. I've read somewhere that they're tuned 10.xxx from the factory. I think you'd be safe if the ONLY mod is downpipe.
