When the ports are opened, the sleeves face opening inwards.... I *think* that they are put in facing down when closed, cant remeber. Ill do a quick search ..

depends on the year, I think.

S5 face up, S4 aligns with the gasket IIRC.

If I recall correctly.

I don't own an NA, and it's been years sicne I have, so the info is a little vague.

Make sure you align the thicker part of the sleeve valve shaft with the notch on the gasket. Yes the hole should be facing down, the same side as the thicker shaft. I don't believe the arm(crab finger) will grab if you mess up, though. So it's kinda of idiot proof as far I can remember.

This is S4's only.

I just did some intake porting on a 1990 NA last week. There is no thicker part on the S5 auxilary ports.

As well, in my hand right now, I hold an N350-13-111A S5 NA intake manifold gasket. There is no notch.

As far as port sleeves go, they're all interchangeable. You can ask Rob at PR to confirm, but his stuff is mixed from all years. As far as gasket is concern, the metal gasket will not have the notch, I used the old one to remind myself where it is. When it's all done and final, the valve shaft for the rear rotor should be a forward slash and back slash for the front rotor. like this / \. Bottom line is the intake port hole needs to face down for initial install.
