dyno results MP VS HFC

I did a dyno a few months ago and at 12 psi I had 266 to the wheels. the graph is below. My mods then were the same as now except I had a HFC, stock injectors and FP, instead of a MP, 1200 CC's and FP. The injectors and FP should have had no bearing since I ran a 12 psi.

it will not let me reattach, so here is the original

Next...here is my new one....

heres the boost and tq...

Please note, my base run on this was 298, he did some tuning to get it 315. we ran 11 runs so its consistent.

anyone know how to figure out torque? I think its about 265?

Look how stable my boost is. It DOES spike to 15 at transition (but it did with my highflow too), but look at my boost pressure...no creep. all the rumors about midpipes and having to port your wastegate turned untrue in my case. my catback (HKS) may have alot to do with it.

So you went from 266 to 298 with no additional tuning ??? Damn, I wish I could handle the noise and smell of a MP, otherwise I'd definitley go that route

I cant speak for anyone else but my MP is very quiet below 4500 rpm. I can tell no difference between my HFC and MP till after 4500.

How often on the street are you above 4K rpm? Unless im racing I shift around 4K and its quiet.

the smell is very tolerable. only at idle with the windows down and its not that bad.

I rode in ZeroBanger's car the other day and I can say that it is tolerably loud. It is definitely louder than my car with just a downpipe and RB cat-back, but it is not as bad as I've heard IN THE CAR. David said his car was deafening on the dyno OUTSIDE THE CAR.

BTW, I need a Power FC. David's car ran so smooth with a tuned PFC, I'm jealous.

BTW...

My first dyno graph (266 hp) was done in 4th gear.

My new dyno (315) was 3rd. I guess 3rd was better for tuning purposes.

oh yea and I remember the sound with my HFC when I dynoed and it was fairly loud. With my MP I had on earphones and walked 100 yards away to the shop next door and it was So freaking loud. Of course you are in a building so it echos, but I was in a building before with my HFC, too.

Yea Rynberg and me had an adventure that involved my car, 85 MPH in a 30 MPH zone and a cop in a SS Camaro Cop Car going the other direction. use your imagination, LOL.

BTW..

I need to clear something up. My car was originally Tuned by Ricks Rotary performance in pleasanton (rx7fasion). Rick does not have a dyno but he has some specialized base maps . He did a very good job on the a/f. Shiv said it was near perfect (10.5 to 11.1) and although he could shave a little fuel off, he said its very safe and in a really good range. Shiv actually added a little fuel during transition cause of my spikes.

shivs tuning was solely timing and not with fuel, except at transition.

Notice folks the HKS downpipe as one for his mods. There is all this chatter about crimp vs. open DP seems to be a myth, no?

I thought that was an issue before, but I dont' think so now. My guess is a few HP on top end, maybe 2 -3. someday I may get a regular dp and see the difference.

Very interesting. Thank your lucky stars you don't have boost creep. I'm thinking of trying the midpipe again once I get the BNR stage 2s....

midpipe with Borla XR-1

If you are worried about noise with a midpipe then just get the Borla XR-1 welded in. Much quiter than the resonated midpipe I had. The 16" sportsman XR-1 fits right where the cat went. Looks as if it was made to go there.

I get a nasty spike. See my 15 psi spike? I hit a fuel cut again tonite. I have it set for 12, it hits 15 + in 3rd gear and cuts my fuel right after I shift into 3rd.

Guess what? the power FC does NOT show when you over boost. it showed like .88 when I had .85 as my boost, but it spiked to 15. Same when I dynoed.

I only ran a 13.48 @ 105.6 with a 2.17 60'. Something is wrong. everytime I get more power I run slower. I was able to run 13.0 @ 108 with a 2.03 60' with much less boost before my midpipe.

You might want to pick up a profec b. It totally cured my boost spike problem. I installed that about a year before the power fc, and I love it. I don't use the power fc to control boost. Also, you have "hks downpipe" listed twice in your sig .

I bought mine from before slava started ripping everyone off. I decided to sell it to rynberg and keep my power FC. I realize that my power FC will NOT spike if the boost settings are right. For example on my 2nd run I changed the settings and did not have any boost cut.

BTW..what would cause my trap problem? my 151,000 mile turbos? or my intercooler? or my driving? help!!!

Im shifting at 8000 rpm. I dunno whats going on. Sears point has bad head wind,I trap around 106 there, and I trap about 108.X at the other track. My trap has not increased since I got my midpipe or my new tuning.

oh well.

Don't you think that that is a little optimistic? I don't see a 300 rhwp FD trapping 113 on street tires, no way, no how. Maybe on slicks with Kan or Yallon driving.

I'd be willing to bet it's your turbos. They have a lot of miles on them, and are prolly getting tired. I have 93k miles on mine and am looking hard at the BNR stage 2s. I feel like my twins have lost some steam lately.

12psi, 306rwhp dynoed. With my crappy driving - trap speed of 109.69mph on street tires. Actually the first time I had EVER been to the strip - went only for some grins. Done 2 years ago never been back.
